Farming Updates

Following the beautiful weather, many Farmer's have now put their livestock back out in their fields. A couple of points that have been raised by some are concerns around dogs in livestock, owners not picking up their dogs faeces and walkers not following footpaths.

These are all points that we can easily address.

It is important to always have your dog under control around livestock. The team are continuously educating members of the public. For further advice please see Op Recall - Leaflet A5 (New Brand).indd.

If livestock accidentally ingest dog faeces it can pose a serious risk due to the parasites. Please bag up your dog mess and then put the bag in an appropriate dog waste bin. Grass fields are not only used for grazing cattle and sheep, they are also used to make silage, haylage and hay, important for livestock over the winter months. No farmer wants to be feeding their livestock dog faeces.

It is important to follow footpaths, as not only are they enjoyable walking routes, they are also a farmers business. Not following the footpath can cause damage to the crops and potentially effect farmers yields.
